Fast Start Not Enough as Bucs Fall to Longwood at Home

CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Charleston Southern women's soccer team opened with two quick goals in the first 14 minutes, but Longwood responded with five unanswered to take a 5-2 win on Saturday afternoon at CSU Soccer Field.

The Buccaneers struck first in the 13th minute when Sedona Dancu buried her fifth goal of the season off a pass from Jenéa Knight and Jessica Boyle. Less than 70 seconds later, the duo connected again — this time Knight finishing from Dancu — to make it 2-0 in favor of CSU.

The visiting Lancers answered quickly, cutting the deficit to 2-1 in the 18th minute and then equalizing in the 36th. Longwood added another before halftime to take a 3-2 lead into the break. The Lancers extended their advantage with two second-half goals in the 77th and 80th minutes to seal the result.

CSU finished with 13 total shots and eight on target, led by Knight's six attempts and three on frame. Goalkeeper Avery Mason recorded three saves in 90 minutes of play.
