CHARLOTTE, N.C. - After her two-goal performance against the Campbell Fighting Camels last Thursday,
Daniela Contreras was awarded Big South Women's Soccer Offensive Co-Player of the Week by the conference on Tuesday. She shares the honor with Dara Russo from USC Upstate.
Contreras gave the Bucs a 1-0 lead early with a goal scored on a penalty kick and then had a breakaway goal in the second half to tie the match at two, which would be the final score. So far this season, the San José, Costa Rica native has nine shots (6 SOG), seven points, one assist and three goals scored. She leads the team in shots, shots on goal, points and goals scored.
Contreras is the second Charleston Southern women's soccer player to be rewarded by the conference, as
Danika Birch received the honor of Big South Freshman of the Week back on Aug. 19. The Bucs continue their non-conference schedule on Thursday, as they host South Carolina State at 3 PM at CSU Soccer Field.
