Contreras Leads Bucs with Two Goals in 2-2 Draw with Fighting Camels

CHARLESTON, S.C. - Daniela Contreras led the way for the with two goals on Thursday afternoon, as the Charleston Southern women's soccer team finished their match with the Campbell Fighting Camels in a 2-2 draw at CSU Soccer Field.

Contreras drew a foul in the 22nd minute leading to a penalty kick, giving the Bucs (1-2-1) a 1-0 lead in the first half; however, it took just 1:06 for the Fighting Camels (1-1-3) to tie the score at one. Campbell took a 2-1 lead on a penalty kick in the 41st minute. 

The Bucs came back in the second half, scoring just shy of the 57th minute, as Contreras scored on a breakaway goal that snuck into the right side of the goal. Contreras had a total of four shots on the afternoon, three of which were on goal. Charleston Southern had a total of nine shots with seven coming on goal, while Campbell had 13 shots and seven on goal. Freshman, Avery Mason got her first start in goal on Thursday, finishing with 4 saves.
