CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Charleston Southern women's soccer team will travel to Carrolton, GA this weekend to take on the West Georgia Wolves at 2 PM on Sunday. This will be the first ever matchup between the two squads.
The Bucs (0-2-0) look to get into the win column for the first time this season after dropping their first two matches against Furman at home and on the road at Grand Canyon. They will face a team in West Georgia that is in its first season as a Division I program. The Wolves are also looking for their first win of the season, as they dropped their opening match on the road at Jacksonville State by a 1-0 score on Aug. 15.
A member of the ASUN Conference, the Wolves were a member of the Gulf South Conference prior to making the jump to DI, finishing with a 6-7-4 record in 2023. They return leading-scorer Katherine Hagans for her sophomore season.
Charleston Southern received some positive news this weekend, as Midfielder
Danika Birch was named Big South Freshman of the Week this past Tuesday after scoring her first collegiate goal against Furman on Aug. 15.
Elin Persson scored the other goal for the Buccaneers so far this year, and
Gracen Beilstein provided the assist on both goals.
Jenna Moran and
