Buccaneers Drop Midweek action to Winthrop on Wednesday

ROCK HILL, S.C. – Charleston Southern dropped their midweek road contest at Winthrop on Wednesday might by a final score of 67-46. The loss gives the Eagles a sweep of the season series against the Bucs.
 
Winthrop was able to build a big lead early as Charleston Southern struggled shooting in the first half. Both teams struggled to score at the start of the game with it knotted up at four apiece over seven minutes into the contest. After that, the Eagles were able to break loose and get ahead to take a 35-13 lead into halftime.
 
In the second half, the teams were able to play more even as the Buccaneers won the period 33-32. Charleston Southern used a late run in the period to draw it closer.
 
The Bucs were led offensively by Quentin Bolton Jr who scored 13 points while Taje' Kelly joined him in double figures with 11 points. Each of the players also recorded double-doubles with Kelly's marking his eighth of the season while Bolton's was the first of his CSU career. Kelly finished with a season-high of 13 rebounds while Bolton had a career-high of ten. Jaiden Thompson had a solid outing with nine points.
 
Bolton led the team in steals as he had three steals on the night while the team finished with a season-best of nine total. Nobal Days had the team-high in blocks as he collected three during the action.
 
Charleston Southern has their next game on Wednesday night inside the Buc Dome against a red-hot Gardner-Webb team. Earlier this season, CSU defeated GWU for the Bucs' first conference win of the year. Following the loss, the Runnin' Bulldogs responded to win their next six games before dropping their contest at Presbyterian earlier tonight. This Saturday, the Bucs do not have a game and will use that day to rest up and have players get healthy for the final three weeks of the regular season.
