CHARLESTON, S.C. – Charleston Southern remained undefeated with a victory over South Carolina State on Thursday afternoon. The Bucs were able to prevail over the Bulldogs by a 5-2 scoreline and continue their best start to a year since 2015-2016 as they now sit at 3-0.

Charleston Southern opened the dual by claiming the doubles point with victories on courts #3 and #2.
Amila Jusufbegovic and
Brenda Yoris claimed the 6-2 win at flight #3 while
Jessica Braun and
Marina Skegro bumped up to the #2 position and came away with the 7-6 (5) victory.
The Buccaneers got off to a great start in singles play taking the first set in five of the matches. Boyd had one of the most dominant performances of the day, taking the #3 singles contest 6-0, 6-3. The Bulldogs took the match at court #2. Braun continued her strong play in the topflight and won 6-2, 3-6, 6-2.
Khyanna Singh provided the match point for the Buccaneers with her victory from flight #5, going 6-4, 3-6, 6-3. The Bulldogs got their second point of the day on court #4. The day came to an end on court #6 with
Kassandra Di Staulo winning 6-4, 4-6, 6-2 in her first appearance of the season.
Charleston Southern will enjoy over a week off until their next match. They host Coastal Carolina on Monday, February 12 at noon with the first serve scheduled for noon.
