GREENVILLE, N.C. - The Charleston Southern women's basketball team wrapped up their stay in North Carolina on Wednesday night, as they fell to the East Carolina Pirates in Greenville by an 81-56 score.
Charleston Southern (0-2) was outscored 26-10 in the fourth quarter.
Catherine Alben was the leading scorer for the second-straight game with 14 points.
Keshunti Nichols was right behind her with 11 points, and
Saniya Jones was the leading rebounder, pulling down nine boards.
Down 13-10 entering the second quarter,
Shimei Muhammad knocked down a three pointer to tie the score. From there, the Pirates (1-0) went on a 13-0 run over the next five minutes. Charleston Southern hung tough, cutting the deficit to four at the break with a second-chance layup from Nichols.
The Bucs made it a three-point deficit with 7:35 left in the third quarter, but the Pirates went on another run and took an 11-point lead with 4:03 left in the third quarter. The Pirates pushed the lead to 25 in the fourth quarter, as they finished the game on a 14-2 run.
Charleston Southern had 26 turnovers on the night, including seven in the fourth quarter. They were 7/17 from beyond the arc and 9/15 from the free throw line.
