Bucs Leave Radford with First Victory over Highlanders Since 1998

Box Score RADFORD, VA - The Charleston Southern Buccaneers continued their success on Saturday night, improving to 2-0 in Big South play with a narrow 3-2 win over the Radford Highlanders at Patrick D. Cupp Memorial Stadium. 

Daniela Contreras gave the Buccaneers (5-3-2, 2-0-0 in conference) the early lead with a PK to make it 1-0, where it would stay until the 63rd minute, when the Highlanders (5-3-3, 0-1-1 in conference) tied the score. 

The Bucs got hot under 10 minutes later, as Claire DeAngelis scored her first goal of the season in the 70th minute. Four minutes later, Danica Birch continued her strong freshman season with her team-leading sixth goal of the season to make it 3-1. 

The Highlanders scored just two minutes later to cut the lead to one; however, Jenna Moran and the Buccaneers prevailed and took home their first win over Radford since 1998. The Naples, FL native had one save on the night. Charleston Southern had nine shots with seven being on goal, while the Highlanders had 15 total shots with three being on goal.
