BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. - The Charleston Southern women's soccer team battled the Gardner-Webb Runnin' Bulldogs on Saturday evening, trying to get to 3-0 in Big South play for the first time in school history.
With a 2-1 lead in the 85th minute, the Buccaneers (5-3-3, 2-0-1 in conference) allowed a goal to the Runnin' Bulldogs (2-9-4, 0-2-3 in conference). Gardner-Webb scored the first goal of the match in the 11th minute and led 1-0 at the half.
The score stayed the same until the 73rd minute, when
Daniela Contreras scored on a PK to tie the score at one. It was her third score off of a PK this season and sixth goal overall, which ties her for the team lead. Two minutes later,
Reese Beggs scores for the second time of the season to make it 2-1.

With six saves on the evening,
Jenna Moran moves up to fourth all-time in school history with 245 career saves. The Naples, FL native was the Preseason Big South Goalkeeper of the Year. She has 44 saves on the season.
The Buccaneers had a season-high 25 shots on the night with 14 being on goal, which was also a season high.
Elin Persson had five shots with three being on goal, while Knight had four shots with two being on goal.

Charleston Southern will have another week-long break, as their next match will be at CSU Soccer Field next Saturday at 11 AM against High Point. It will be the team's first home match in the month of October. They will be celebrating 30 years of Charleston Southern women's soccer.
