DANIEL ISLAND, S.C. – Charleston Southern Men's Golf concluded their fall slate on Tuesday morning as they finished the three-day Daniel Island Intercollegiate. The team finished the event in 13
th place and were led individually by
Griffin Tarver.
The event was held at Ralston Creek Course in Daniel Island. The par for the course was a 72 and stretched 7332 yards.
As a team, the Bucs finished with a score of 894 (+30) for 13
th in the field. They were two strokes behind Campbell and were two ahead of Southern Mississippi. CSU also was able to beat out a Power 5 opponent in Maryland (16
th, +38) as well as a conference foe in USC Upstate (18
th, +64). The team had their best round come on Monday as they had a +4 between their top four players on the day.
Individually, Tarver had the best tournament of the seven Buccaneers that played in the event carding at +2 over the 54 holes of golf to finish in a tie for 29
th. He had a 73 in each of the first two rounds and closed out the week with a 72 on Tuesday morning. In total, he collected ten birdies.
Ben Carroll was next on the team with a +8 and was followed by
Theodor Takman and
Jules Gentil each with a +9. Through the first two days, Carroll sat at +1 and Gentil at +2, but each shot a 79 in round 3 to fall down the leaderboard.
Also competing for Charleston Southern during the tournament were
Layne Lambert (+16),
Dewi John (+17) and
Luke Shamblin (+22) to round out the team's performance.
