CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Charleston Southern women's soccer team picked up a huge win in the conference on Saturday, as they defeated the UNC Asheville Bulldogs by a 1-0 score.
In the 59
th minute,
Dakota Fiedler scored the match's lone goal off of a rebound from a free kick.
Fiama Hidalgo missed the shot off of a free kick, and Fiedler was able to get it to go in off of the ricochet.
Early on, the Bucs (8-4-4, 3-2-2 in conference) were battle tested, as the Bulldogs (7-5-4, 2-4-1 in conference) were able to put up seven shots. Asheville ended the match attempting 19 total shots with seven on goal, while Charleston Southern attempted 15 total shots and six on goal.
Jenna Moran picked up her third shutout of the season, playing in all 90 minutes at goalkeeper.

Tournament Implications
With the win, the Bucs were able to hang on to the fourth spot in the conference. They currently hold the tiebreaker over the Longwood Lancers for the final seed in the Big South Tournament starting on November 2
nd. Charleston Southern will guarantee themselves a spot in the conference tournament with a win over USC Upstate on Wednesday.
