A kill by Pais-Marden saved set point at 24-25 in the opener and added another to give CSU a 30-29 lead. She then teamed with Young for a block to complete the 31-29 first set victory.
The Bucs trailed 24-23 and 26-25 in the second set but again were able to survive on kills by Thompson and Young. An ace by Pais-Marden finished off the set to give CSU a 2-0 lead.
Unlike the first two sets, number three was all Bucs. Tied at 2 early, CSU ran off five straight points capped by a Thompson kill. The Cougars were still within five at 13-8 before the Bucs scored five in a row and were never threatened, with consecutive aces by Thompson wrapping up the match.
