CHARLESTON, S.C. – Charleston Southern plays its final regular season tournament when it hosts College of Charleston, Montana and UNCG for the Chucktown Throwdown at Buccaneer Fieldhouse.
The Bucs meet their city rival on Friday at 7 p.m. followed by Saturday matches against Montana at 10 a.m. and UNCG at 5 p.m. CSU brings a 5-6 record into the tournament, highlighted by a 3-2 win at The Citadel on Tuesday.
Indigo Young hit .739 against the Bulldogs to move into first place in the Big South with a season hitting percentage of .376. Young and
Peyton Thompson both had 18 kills in the match, and Thompson ranks second in the conference with 3.86/set and leads the league with 4.43 points/set.
Skylar Yates is in the Top 10 in three categories, including sixth in points (3.41/set), seventh in kills (2.88/set) and eighth in aces (0.33/set).
Angelika Rusin sits atop the leaderboard in digs/set with 4.66, and
Emilee Karelse is second with 9.09 assists/set.
In addition to wrapping up tournament play, this weekend also marks the final non-conference matches of the season for CSU. The Bucs open their Big South slate next Thursday at Gardner-Webb.
