CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Charleston Southern Cross Country teams will travel to North Carolina on Friday to race in the Adidas XC Challenge at WakeMed Soccer Park.
The Buccaneers will race for the first time away from home after opening the season two weeks ago with the CSU Buccaneer XC Invitational.
The Women placed first in the seven team field with 32 points, narrowly defeating College of Charleston (33 points). Keerstin Augustin and Anne Akagi went 1-2 in the 4K race and were the only two runners to post sub-15min times. Sarah McCartney was the third CSU runner in the top 10, finishing sixth.
The Buccaneer men took second in the home meet, just two points behind the first place Citadel. Freshman twins Zach and
Jeff Wedding led the Bucs in the 6K race, with Zach placing third and Jeff in seventh.
Evan Crawford and
Garrett Ricardo also placed in the top 10 for CSU.
After entering the season as the No. 12 team in the Southeast Region of the USTFCCCA rankings, the men's squad enters the weekend ranked No. 15.
The Men's 6K is set to start at 5:40pm in Cary, N.C. with the Women's 5K following at 6:20pm.
