CSU Brings Winning Streak into Saturday Date with High Point

CHARLESTON, S.C. –
Charleston Southern seeks its fourth straight win and maintain its spot atop the Big South standings when the Bucs host High Point on Saturday at 1 p.m.

CSU has three consecutive shutout victories over USC Upstate, UNC Asheville and Presbyterian and is tied with USC Upstate for first place in the Big South with nine points. The Bucs and Spartans have a one-point lead over Campbell followed by Radford and Gardner-Webb with seven points.

High Point, the defending conference champion, is 2-2 in the Big South and in sixth place with six points. The top four teams at the end of the regular season qualify for the conference tournament on November 3 and 6 in Matthews, N.C.

The Bucs are coming off a 1-0 win over the Blue Hose on Tuesday behind a goal by Daniela Contreras and shutout goalkeeping from Sara Curtis. The clean sheet was the fifth of the season for Curtis, who has lowered her goals against average to 1.64 while upping her save percentage to .710.

Jenea Knight continues to pace CSU with five goals and 14 points, ranking fourth and third, respectively, in the Big South in those departments. Erin Rush has 10 points (3 goals, 4 assists) and has scored three game-winning goals.

The Panthers are coming off a 5-0 win over UNC Asheville with Sam Gerhart scoring her team-leading third of the season. Skyler Prillaman, Bri Davis and Leah Malone each have two goals.

High Point owns a 22-7-1 lead in the series including a 4-0 home victory last season.
