Bucs Look to Keep Playoff Hopes Alive Against Longwood

Live Stats

CHARLESTON, S.C. –
Charleston Southern hosts Longwood at 1 p.m. on Saturday facing a near must-win situation in its quest for a berth in the Big South Tournament.

The Bucs have 10 points and are in sixth place, three behind Gardner-Webb, Radford and High Point. With tiebreakers taken into consideration, CSU likely needs at least four points against the Lancers and in its season finale at Winthrop on Wednesday to have a chance at making the four-team field.

CSU (5-8-2, 3-3-1 Big South) is looking to snap a two-game skid and earn its first win over the Lancers since 2011. Longwood (5-8-3, 2-4-1) is tied for seventh in the conference with seven points.

Jena Knight continues to rank among the Big South leaders in most offensive categories, including a tie for third with six goals. Her 16 points also put her in a third-place tie, and she is tied with teammates Erin Rush and Bri Robinson for the team lead with four assists.

Rush has been a clutch performer for the Bucs, tying for second in the conference with three game-winning goals. Sara Curtis has five shutouts to lead the league.

Mary Kate Levush has been solid in goal for the Lancers with four clean sheets and ranks fourth in the Big South with a 1.23 goals against average and second with an .822 save percentage. Catharine Forst leads the team with three goals, and Alex Dinger has three assists.
