The Charleston Southern Volleyball team fell to the Campbell Fighting Camels on Thursday night in four sets. This was the second time this season that these two teams have faced off with Campbell winning both matches.
Skylar Yates led the team in kills on the night with 18, while IIaria Durante led all scorers in assists with 30, and
Julia Fledderjohn contributed 19 digs.
In set one, both teams were neck-and-neck to start out, but the Fighting Camels went on a 6-0 run to take a 13-5 lead. Down 19-13, the Bucs (11-12, 4-5) went on a 5-0 run of their own to pull to within one. Yates had four kills during that stretch. Despite the effort, the Bucs were unable to hold off the Fighting Camels, who scored six of the final seven points to take set one 25-19.
Set two looked like it would be all Bucs early on, as they jumped out to a 6-1 lead, but the Fighting Camels came storming back, taking a 13-12 lead midway through. After the Bucs regained the lead at 17-14, Campbell outscored Charleston Southern 11-3 to end the set and win 25-20.
The Bucs would not go down quietly though, as they came storming back in set three. In a back-and-forth battle, the Bucs held on to win 25-22. Yates had six kills during the set to help the Buccaneers; including one the end of the set to seal it.
The Fighting Camels came roaring back in set 4, jumping out to a 12-6 lead. The Bucs went on a 6-2 run to cut the deficit to within two mid-way through.

Indigo Young both had kills during that run. Â
Campbell took the lead again 20-14, but the Bucs continued to fight, as
Peyton Thompson had two kills during a 4-0 run to cut the lead to 21-19; however, the Camels scored the final four points to take the set 25-19.
Charleston Southern is back at home this Saturday, October 22, as they play host to Gardner-Webb. The match will start at 2 p.m. at the Buc Dome.
