Bucs head to High Point for Big South match

CHARLESTON, S.C. – Charleston Southern plays its first conference road match of the season Saturday when it takes on defending regular season champion High Point at noon.

Last Time Out
Charleston Southern had an advantage in shots (19-7), shots on target (7-3) and corner kicks (10-2) Saturday afternoon but visiting USC Upstate walked away with a 1-0 overtime win over the Bucs.
 
Ashley Finn scored the lone goal of the match in the 92nd minute. Daniela Contreras led all players with five shots, while Karly Livingston had a match-high three shots on target.
 
Charleston Southern was supposed to play at home against South Carolina State earlier this week but that match was postponed due to the Bulldogs not having enough available players.
 
Stat Leaders
Jenea Knight leads the Bucs this season with two goals and four points after scoring in both ends of CSU's two-match Florida road trip. Katie Carnes leads CSU with two assists after providing the helpers on both of Knight's goals.
 
Jenna Moran has played every minute between the sticks this season and has 24 saves through five matches. Moran had a season-high eight saves in a goalless draw against Stetson.
 
Moran and Maddie Reilly are the only Bucs who have played all 472 minutes this season.
 
What to Watch For
CSU has outshot its opposition in each of the last two matches.
 
Last weekend's loss to USC Upstate was the first time the Bucs had the advantage in shots, shots on target and corners in the same match.
 
Scouting High Point
High Point enters the weekend with an 0-6-2 overall record and an 0-1-0 mark in Big South play. The Panthers dropped their conference opener to Campbell in a rematch of the 2020 Big South Championship.
 
HPU played a daunting non-conference schedule to open the season, facing off against the likes of Wake Forest, East Carolina, Tennessee and James Madison. The Panthers earned points against UNCG and Richmond, drawing in both matches.
 
Four different Panthers have scored one goal this season, while Fain Buete and Lily  Neubauer have one assist each. Morgan Hairston has played every minute in goal and has 47 saves and a 1.78 goals against average.
 
Series Breakdown
Saturday's meeting will be the 14th all-time match between the Bucs and Bulldogs. CSU has a 12-1-0 lead in the series and has won all nine matches played in Charleston. The Bucs have also won each of the last five meetings.
 
CSU enters Thursday's match having outscored South Carolina State by a 62-11 margin in their previous contests.

Charleston Southern returns home Wednesday afternoon for a Big South match against Presbyterian at 3 p.m.
