Charleston Southern volleyball returns home with a 5-1 record after a split with Campbell sitting second in the Big South standings after three series played behind only preseason favorite High Point. The trio of
Dayana Chara,
Paige Reagor and
Peyton Thompson led the Buccaneer front line while a host of
Ashleigh Holweger,
Elle McFatrich and
Emma Minnick anchored the backline and set positions.
The Bucs were able to keep Preseason Player of the Year Sarah Colla in check most of the series in grabbing a key road split to stay one game ahead of the Camels and just one back from first place. Due to Covid-19 the Big South will not be hosting a volleyball championship, instead the regular season champion will receive the automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
Charleston Southern welcomes a red-hot UNC Asheville team that holds a 4-4 record but has swept their last two series after taking on High Point and Campbell to open the season. Oddly enough, all four wins for the Bulldogs have come on the road defeating Gardner-Webb and Presbyterian. Meanwhile, Charleston Southern's lone home series saw the Bucs sweep defending champion Winthrop in seven sets and snapping a 16-match win streak for the Eagles.
Monday and Tuesday are the 59th and 60th meetings all-time between to of the Big South's founding members as UNC Asheville owns the head-to-head series lead. The Bulldogs have won the last five meetings but have only played two matches inside Buccaneer Field House since the 2016 season while hosting the other three meetings in that time period.
Both matches can be seen on ESPN+ with Monday's set for a 6 p.m. start and Tuesday a 2 p.m. opening whistle from Buccaneer Field House, where the Bucs hold a three-match win streak dating back to the 2019 season.
