CHARLESTON, S.C. -Â The Buccaneer women's soccer team will face off against Longwood in their home opener on Sunday at 3 p.m.Â
The Bucs are coming off a week-long COVID-19 pause following a loss in their first match of the season to Gardner-Webb (1-0-2, 1-0-1). Longwood is currently sitting in second place in the Big South after playing two games with a record of 1-0-1 in conference play. The Lancers defeated GWU for their first win of the year, scoring just eleven minutes into the game, as Alex Dinger scored off of an assist by Kennedy Culbreath. There was no scoring action seen until later in the second half, until Culbreath and Lockhamy scored two more to seal the win for Longwood.
The game marks Charleston Southern's first home match since October 26, 2019; 497 days. The program will honor the four seniors on the team,
Kylie Doster,
Juliana Barbaccia,
Kat Klingensmith, and
Kayla Robinson. In last year's matchup, the teams ended in a 0-0 tie after going to two overtimes. The Lancers lead the all-time series 4-2-11.
