CHARLESTON, S.C. – Charleston Southern tennis battled but fell to their crosstown rival College of Charleston Friday afternoon by a 5-2 score.
College of Charleston (7-9) got things going early with the doubles win then took four of the six singles court to stave-off a Charleston Southern (4-7) comeback attempt.
Zoe Cauthen had a 2-0 day taking her doubles match alongside partner
Tiffany Pyritz by a 6-0 score then tied the match 1-1 making quick work of her singles counterpart 6-3, 6-1 on the fourth flight.
Madalina Man grabbed the Bucs' only other tally taking down the Cougars' ace by a 6-4, 7-6 score on the top line.
Man's win would bring the match to a 3-2 score but the Cougars used a pair of three-set matches on courts three and six to take the crosstown rivalry Friday.

The Buccaneers head to the Commonwealth of Virginia next week for a pair of crucial Big South matches against Longwood and Radford as the regular season winds down. Friday's match at Longwood is scheduled for 12 p.m. and Saturday's in the New River Valley is slated for a 2 p.m. start.
