Bucs look to extend win streak Saturday

CHARLESTON, S.C. – Charleston Southern puts its season-best three-match win streak on the line Saturday afternoon when it heads to Longwood for a 2 p.m. kickoff.

Last Time Out
Emma Ryan scored the match-winning goal in the 86th minute Wednesday afternoon, as Charleston Southern defeated Gardner-Webb, 1-0, at the CSU Soccer Field.
 
Ryan directed a Bri Robinson cross into the top of the net for her third goal of the season, tied for most on the team. Jenna Moran made seven saves in goal for her third consecutive clean sheet and fourth of the season.
 
CSU had 18 shots in the match, marking the third consecutive home match where the Bucs had more than 15 shots.
 
Stat Leaders
Jenea Knight and Emma Ryan lead the Bucs this season with three goals, with Ryan's seven points leading the team in that category. Katie Carnes leads CSU with three assists after providing the helpers on both of Knight's goals and Madisen Mitchum's goal against PC.
 
Jenna Moran has started every match between the sticks this season and has 44 saves through nine matches. Moran had a season-high eight saves in a goalless draw against Stetson and has not allowed a goal in each of the last three matches.
 
As a team, the Bucs have a shutout streak of 284:30. The current streak is the longest by a Buccaneer team since 2010, when CSU had a shutout streak of 382:58.
 
What to Watch For
CSU has outshot its opponent in two of the last three matches, including Wednesday's match against Gardner-Webb. The Bucs have also been either equal or ahead in shots on target in three of the five conference matches this season.
 
Jenna Moran was named Big South Defensive Player of the Week after making 11 saves in a pair of shutout wins for the Bucs last week.
 
The Bucs have had the advantage or tied with the opponent in corner kicks in all five conference matches this season.
 
The 23 shots taken against Presbyterian were a season high for the Bucs and marked the highest single-game output for the Bucs since October 2019.
 
Scouting Longwood
Longwood enters the weekend at 5-5-4 overall and 4-0-2 in Big South play. The Lancers have won four straight matches, including a 1-0 win over defending Big South Tournament champion Campbell in their last outing.
 
Danielle Toone leads the Lancers with four goals and 10 points this season. Catharine Forst has three goals and seven points, second on the team in both categories. Four different Lancers have two assists this season.
 
Jordan Horacek has played 13 of Longwood's 14 games in goal and has 46 saves with an 0.81 goals against average.
 
Series Breakdown
Saturday's meeting will be the 19th all-time match between the Bucs and Lancers. Longwood has an 11-4-3 lead in the all-time series, including a 6-1-1 advantage in matches played in Farmville. Each of the last three matches between Charleston Southern and Longwood has ended in a draw.
