Bucs close regular season at home against Radford

CHARLESTON, S.C. – Charleston Southern plays its final match of the regular season Saturday afternoon when it welcomes Radford to the Lowcountry for a 3 p.m. kickoff.

Prior to the start of Saturday's match, the Buccaneers will honor seven seniors - defenders Maddie Reilly and Siera Kirby, midfielders Dakota Fiedler, Erin Rush and Mason Pinkerton, and forwards Grace Gompers and Emily Kifer - for their contributions to the program over the course of the last four seasons.

Last Time Out
Charleston Southern gave league-leading Campbell all it could handle Wednesday night, but the Camels edged the Bucs by a 2-1 scoreline at the Eakes Athletics Complex.
 
Lauren McDonald scored her first goal of the season in the losing effort, while Erin Rush provided the assist on the goal. Jenna Moran made three saves for the Bucs.

Jenea Knight leads the Bucs with four goals and eight points, while Emma Ryan has three goals and seven points. Katie Carnes and Erin Rush are tied for the team lead with three assists, while four different Bucs have five or more points this season.
 
Jenna Moran has started every match between the sticks this season and has 63 saves through 13 matches. Moran had a season-high eight saves in a goalless draw against Stetson and has six clean sheets this season.
 
As a team, the Bucs' defense has allowed just three goals in their last seven matches, posting five clean sheets during that span.
 
Conference Tournament Scenarios
Saturday's match against Radford carries significant conference tournament implications for both the Bucs and Highlanders.
 
Charleston Southern will clinch a spot in the Big South Championships with:
  • A win Saturday over Radford OR
  • A draw paired with a draw/loss by either UNC Asheville or USC Upstate OR
  • A loss by either UNC Asheville or USC Upstate
 
The Buccaneers will host a first-round game next weekend if they defeat Radford AND UNC Asheville does not win Saturday against Longwood.
 
Radford has already clinched a spot in the conference tournament and will host a first-round game next weekend if it wins Saturday.
 
Scouting Radford
Radford enters the weekend at 11-4-1 overall and 5-3-1 in Big South Play. The Highlanders have won each of their last five matches, outscoring opponents by a 16-0 margin in the process. Radford also leads the Big South in nearly every offensive category, including goals, points, shots and goals per game, while also boasting a league-best 0.85 goals against average.
 
Kat Parris has a conference-leading 12 goals and 30 points to lead the Highlanders, while Brianna Oliver has seven goals and 18 points to rank fifth in the conference in the latter category. Lily McLane has a team-high eight assists, while four other Highlanders have at least four. Six different Radford players have recorded at least 10 points this season.
 
Lauren Seedlock has started every match between the sticks for Radford this season and has 58 saves with an 0.81 goals against average.
 
Series Breakdown
Saturday's meeting will be the 34th all-time matchup between Radford and Charleston Southern. The Highlanders have a 22-6-5 advantage in the series and are 20-0-5 in the last 25 meetings between the schools.
