CHARLESTON, S.C. – Charleston Southern tennis took the double point Wednesday, but College of Charleston rebounded in singles play to claim a 6-1 win in the annual Holy City showdown from the Buccaneer Tennis Complex.

Charleston Southern (2-2) fell for the first time at home this season despite taking the doubles point for a third-straight match dating back to a 5-2 win over Elon. College of Charleston (4-2) was able to cut that Buccaneer momentum early and often in singles play taking all six matches.

Tiffany Pyritz, who was named the Big South Women's Tennis Player of the Week Wednesday morning, took another doubles match with partner Zoe Cauthen by a 6-3 score to improve to 3-1 in doubles play her sophomore season.

The tandem of Femcke van Rensburg and Luiza Fullana claimed a 6-4 win at the third doubles flight giving the Bucs wins on two of the three courts and a 1-0 lead.

CSU returns to action Saturday afternoon as they hose Charlotte from Conference-USA then end the weekend with Lowcountry rival South Carolina State Sunday afternoon.
First erve between the Bucs and 49ers is slated for 1 p.m. from the Buccaneer Tennis Complex.
