Bucs Top Cougars in Home Opener

Charleston, S.C. - In their first home match of 2020, Charleston Southern (2-1) took down Columbus State (0-1) by a score of 4-3 on Saturday afternoon.

Zoe Cauthen/Tiffany Pyritz and Hilda Lundstedt/Liz Williams each won their doubles matches 6-1 as the Bucs claimed the doubles point. Madalina Man/Luiza Fullana were in a tight match that was left unfinished.

In singles play, Liz Williams quickly dispatched her opponent with scores of 6-1, 6-2. Madalina Man was in a close match before being forced to retire due to injury. Candice Pace evened the score at two with a win on court two, but Zoe Cauthen reclaimed the lead for the Bucs with a come from behind 4-6, 6-2, 6-2 win. The Cougars tied the game once again with a win on court six, but Tiffany Pyritz clinched the match for the Bucs, winning 6-3, 7-5.

The Bucs host crosstown rival College of Charleston on Wednesday afternoon. First serve is set for 2pm from the Buccaneer Tennis Complex.
