The national-power Tar Heels (2-0) used two nationally-ranked singles athletes to jump ahead before closing off the win on their home court. Sara Daavettila, ranked fourth in the NCAA, took down CSU (0-1) sophomore
Tiffany Pyritz at the top singles spot 6-1, 6-0 and No. 36-ranked Alle Sanford defeated
Madalina Man 6-1, 6-1 at the third flight.
Freshman
Zoe Cauthen made her collegiate debut at the second flight falling 6-2, 6-1 while fellow freshmen
Luiza Fullana (fourth flight) and
Hilda Lundstedt (sixth flight) also fell in their Buccaneer debuts.
Charleston Southern (0-1) hits the court Sunday morning at 10 a.m. with a chance to close their opening weekend strong versus Elon.
