CHARLESTON, S.C. – Charleston Southern continues Big South play on Saturday when the Buccaneers travel to Farmville, Va., for a 2 p.m. game against Longwood.
The Buccaneers (3-5-1, 0-1-1) are coming off a 2-1 overtime loss to Presbyterian after tying High Point, 2-2, in their conference opener. The Lancers (3-5, 1-1) also lost in overtime to the Blue Hose before bouncing back for a 4-0 win over Hampton.
Kylie Doster provided CSU's goal against Presbyterian with a penalty kick in the 11th minute before the Bucs allowed a PK late in the first half and the game-winner five minutes into overtime. The goal was Doster's team-leading third of the year, one more than
Zari Hayes and
Elise Borys.
Bri Robinson paces the Bucs with three assists, and
Dakota Fiedler has two.
Jazmin Gonzalez has made 41 saves and owns a 1.33 goals against average.
Longwood's Emilie Kupsov and Kennedy Culbreath are tied for fourth in the Big South with five goals, and Madison Lockamy is 10th with four. Kupsov and Taylor Alvey are in the top 10 with four assists each, and Madison Van Dyke is second with an .872 save percentage and third with an 0.93 GAA.
The Lancers hold an 11-4-1 lead in the series including a 7-1 mark in Farmville. The teams played to a 2-2 draw last year in Charleston with CSU getting goals from
Kayla Robinson and
Siera Kirby, the latter with just over a minute remaining in regulation.
