HIGH POINT, N.C. –
Dakota Fiedler and
Kayla Reese both scored their first career goal in the late stages of regulation to give Charleston Southern (3-4-1 overall) a 2-2 tie at High Point (1-6-1) in the Big South opener for both teams.
How It Happened
•   High Point wasted little time taking a 1-0 lead when Emma Schossler scored just 25 seconds into the game.
•  Â
Jazmin Gonzalez made a diving save in the 10th minute, and a Panther shot hit the crossbar in the 35th to keep it a one-goal game.
•   High Point made it 2-0 in the 42nd minute when Ashlyn Kearney took a pass from Sam Gerhart and put it in the lower left corner.
•   The Bucs were limited to two shots until staging their dramatic comeback.Â
•   In the 72nd minute, Fiedler beat goalkeeper Talia Klimes to the upper left portion of the goal with bring CSU within one.
Bri Robinson assisted on the goal.
•   With just two minutes left in regulation, Reese fired a rocket into the top left corner to bring the Bucs into a tie.
•   Gonzalez came up with two huge saves in the 20 minutes of overtime to prevent the game-winning goal.
•   She made a leaping save to tip the ball over the crossbar in the first extra period, and stopped a point-blank shot in the 104th minute to thwart two Panther opportunities.
Inside the Numbers
•   High Point held a 22-5 advantage in shots with 12 coming on goal.
•   All five of CSU shots were on target.
•   In addition to Fiedler and Reese, CSU also got shots from Robinson,
Erin Rush and
Kat Klingensmith.
•   Gonzalez finished with 10 saves, and Klimes had three.
News and Notes
•   The comeback marked the first time the Bucs rallied from two down to either win or tie since a 2-2 deadlock against Morehead State on September 13, 2015.
•   CSU is 1-0-1 against High Point in the past two meetings, including a 2-0 win in Charleston last year.
•   Gonzalez increased her career saves total to 128, moving her within 12 of passing Amy Arroyo for ninth in school history.
