CHARLESTON, S.C. – Charleston Southern looks to get back in the win column on Sunday when the Bucs host Alabama State in a 1 p.m. contest at the CSU Soccer Field.

CSU (2-3) is coming off a 2-1 loss at Kennesaw State on Friday. Zari Hayes gave the Bucs a 1-0 lead in the 12th minute with her second goal of the season, but the Owls tied it just seconds before halftime and produced the game-winner in the 58th minute.

Following Sunday's game, the Bucs host College of Charleston on Wednesday at 4 p.m. in the annual Silver Cup contest. That is a makeup from the game postponed due to the threat of Hurricane Dorian earlier this month.

Alabama State is 1-5 with a win over Faulkner and a double overtime loss to Jacksonville State. The Hornets won seven games last year including a victory in the first round of the SWAC Tournament.

Hayes and Kylie Doster pace the Bucs with two goals. Jazmin Gonzalez, who had nine saves against Kennesaw State, owns a 1.00 goals against average to rank fourth in the Big South. Gonzalez has 109 career saves, one shy of tying Mindy Hyde for 10th in school history.

Isabella Beortegui leads Alabama State with three goals while McKenna Wiscombe has three assists. Beortegui had two goals in the Hornet victory.

This is the second meeting between CSU and Alabama State and first since 2009 when the Bucs won 14-0 at home.
