CHARLESTON, S.C. – Charleston Southern finishes a two-game road swing on Saturday with a 6 p.m. match at UNC Asheville.
CSU (3-8-2, 0-4-2) is looking to get hot in the home stretch of the season to move into contention for a berth in the Big South playoffs. The Bulldogs (4-9-0, 2-3-0) are in eighth place in the conference entering the final two weeks of the regular season.
Jazmin Gonzalez ranks second in the Big South with 5.67 saves per game and is also fifth in save percentage (.782) and sixth in goals against average (1.52).
Kylie Doster and
Zari Hayes are tied for the team lead with three goals, and
Bri Robinson has four assists to tie for fifth in the conference.
The Bulldogs have Big South wins over USC Upstate and Hampton, both by scores of 1-0. Gillian Oyos scored the game-winner late in the first half in Wednesday's victory over the Pirates, her team-leading second of the year. Bryson Lee has 41 saves, and Courtney O'Malley has 20 stops and a 1.62 GAA.
The all-time series is even at 15-15-2, but the Bucs are 10-2-1 since 2007. CSU has won three in a row – all by shutout – including a 1-0 victory last September in Charleston.
