BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. - Gardner-Webb scored with just 1:39 remaining in regulation to hand Charleston Southern a 2-1 loss in a Big South women's soccer game Saturday night.

The Buccaneers dropped to 5-4-2 overall and 2-3-1 in the Big South while the Runnin' Bulldogs improved to 6-4-3 and 3-1-1. The teams had entered the contest tied for seventh in the conference, but CSU fell a spot with the narrow defeat.

How It Happened

• The Bucs got off to a quick start with a goal five minutes into the game
• Peyton Motley fed a streaking Dakota Fiedler, who in turn crossed to Riley Rumbley who put it in the back of the net
• The goal was Rumbley's third of the season, giving her sole possession of the team lead. Motley and Fiedler were both credited with assists.
• The Runnin' Bulldogs tied it in the 29th minute on a goal by Aubrie Jackson
• Three minutes after tying the game Gardner-Webb had another solid scoring chance, but Grace Clark got a foot on the ball just before it crossed the goal line
• The Runnin' Bulldogs outshot the Bucs 8-3 in the second half and finally capitalized in the 89th minute when Jada Braun scored the game winner

• Gardner-Webb finished with a 19-10 advantage in shots including 8-2 on goal
• The Runnin' Bulldogs also produced nine corner kicks to five for the Bucs
• Dellacqua finished with seven saves to only one for Gardner-Webb keeper Keely Brown
• In addition to her assist, Motley had four shots to lead the Bucs

• Dellacqua increased her career save total to 239, four shy of passing Pam Ramler for fourth in school history
• The loss was Dellacqua's first of the season after earning two wins and a tie in her first three starts
• CSU still holds a 7-6-2 lead in the all-time series with Gardner-Webb 
• Clark, Emilie Gilbert, Taylor Francis and Maddie Reilly played the entire 90 minutes
