Big South leader Liberty hands CSU overtime defeat

LYNCHBURG, Va. - Siarra Lam scored just over three minutes into the second overtime period to give Liberty a 1-0 win over Charleston Southern in a Big South contest Saturday at Osborne Stadium.

The Bucs dropped their fourth in a row to fall to 4-9-2 overall and 2-4-1 in the Big South. Liberty, the defending conference champion, remained undefeated in league play at 6-0-1 and is 8-5-3 overall.

How They Scored

  • Lam took a feed from Isabella Habuda and beat Alyssa Dellacqua to the goalkeeper's right for the lone tally of the game at the 103:09 mark.

Inside the Numbers

  • CSU held a 13-11 advantage in shots and 9-7 in shots on goal. The Flames took the only two shots during overtime.
  • Liberty also took six corners to two for the Bucs.
  • Sidney Doherty led CSU with four shots including three on goal. Peyton Motley and Jordan Newman also had two shots on goal.
  • Dellacqua finished with five saves, and Melody Jayroe had nine for Liberty.
