LYNCHBURG, Va. - Alyssa Dellacqua stopped 15 shots over the first 70 minutes of the contest, but Liberty was able to finally find the back of the net twice late as Charleston Southern fell to the host Flames in Big South play on Saturday afternoon, 2-0.

Dellacqua faced 27 shots, 17 on goal, in making 15 saves for the Bucs in the loss. The total was the fifth-most saves in program history as the Toms River, N.J. native faced Liberty players firing early and often with 10 Flames launching shots in the contest.

The Bucs fall to 2-4-2, 0-2 in Big South Conference play with the loss. Liberty improves to 4-5-1, 2-0 with the win.

Anna Sells led the CSU offense in a late effort to comeback with four shots, three on goal in the loss. Chelsea Frankeny added three shots on goal for the Bucs.

Liberty outshot the Bucs 15-1 over the first half, but Dellacqua proved to be the equalizer for CSU inside the net as the Bucs' defense stood strong. The teams went into the break tied 0-0 with Dellacqua making nine saves over the first 45 minutes.

In the second half, the Flames finally found the back of the net with Crystal Elmers finishing off the cross from Jennifer Knoebel in the 71st minute to put Liberty ahead 1-0. Five minutes later, Knoebel scored to double the Liberty lead.

Charleston Southern fought back over the final 10 minutes but the Bucs were unable to find the net as the Flames closed out the shutout.

Liberty goalkeeper Holly Van Noord closed out the shutout win inside the net with six saves.

Charleston Southern returns home on Wednesday afternoon as the Buccaneers host Radford at the CSU Soccer Field. Kickoff is set for 3 p.m. on the Big South Network.
