Bucs' season ends in Big South Championship First Round

Box Score

CONWAY, S.C. - Charleston Southern saw their season come to an end on the road on Sunday afternoon in the Big South Championships First Round as the No. 7 Buccaneers fell to No. 2 Coastal Carolina, 5-0.

CSU advanced to the postseason behind Big South wins over Radford, Winthrop, Presbyterian and Longwood, but the Buccaneers were unable to fight their way back into the game against the Chanticleers as Coastal took control early.

The Chanticleers scored twice in the first half and added three second half goals in pulling away from the Bucs and advancing to next weekend's semifinal round at Bryan Park in Greensboro, N.C.

Chelsea Frankeny, Anna Sells and Gina Cox all had two shots apiece for the Buccaneers, while Cox, Frankeny, and Fitzhugh all had shots on goal, but CSU was unable to find the back of the net in falling to the Chants for the second time in the 2015 season.

Amber Adams and Kayla Christian both found the back of the net in the first half to give Coastal Carolina the 2-0 lead. Out of the halftime break Adams, Sam Patterson and Daniella Famili all scored goals in closing out the win.

Alyssa Dellacqua closed out her freshman campaign with five saves in net for the Bucs.

Charleston Southern's season comes to an end with the Buccaneers finishing the year with a 7-9-2 overall record.
