DELAND, Fla. - Charleston Southern women's tennis suffered their first setback of the 2013 season as the Lady Bucs fell to host Stetson University at the Mandy Stoll Tennis Center on Saturday afternoon, 5-2.

The Hatters improve to 2-0 with the win over Charleston Southern, while CSU falls to 1-1 with the loss.

Marketa Placha and Alexandra Walters picked up both of CSU's points in the match, winning tough matches in singles action.

Placha took the first set from Sara Lazarevic for the first set win of the afternoon for the Lady Bucs, winning 6-3. In the second set, the Czech Republic native rallied to complete the sweep, again downing her opponent 6-3 for the win.

In the final singles match of the afternoon, Walters fell behind Clarke Tatje, losing the first set 6-4. The CSU junior rebounded to even the match with the 7-5 set win, sending the duo into the third set tiebreaker. Walters took the tiebreaker to record the win and close out the match.

Doubles play opened the action on Saturday afternoon, with the Hatters taking the first point in the match in a doubles sweep.

Lindsay Cable and Eveline Lepinay defeated Chanel Bell and Walters on court no. 3, 8-2, to open play and Andrea Crespo and Diana Bukajeva clinched the point with an 8-3 victory over Alia Nour and Angelica Sidorenko on court no. 1.

On court no. 2, Lazarevic and Jen Miller completed the sweep with an 8-4 win over Placha and Susita Das.

In singles play, Crespo, Bukajeva, Miller and Cable recorded straight set wins for Stetson, with Miller clinching the win on court no. 5 with a 6-1, 6-4 victory over Das.

Charleston Southern returns home next weekend as the Lady Bucs welcome North Carolina State and Kansas to the Buccaneer Tennis Complex on Saturday, February 15th. CSU takes on the N.C. State Wolfpack at 9:30 a.m., while returning in the afternoon to host the Jayhawks of Kansas at 2 p.m.
