The Charleston Southern baseball team completed fall practice on Sunday with the Annual Parents' Weekend Blue and Gold World Series. The roster was split into two teams with assistant coaches Jon Coutlangus and Drew Woodall drafting and managing the two teams in three seven inning contests. Coach Coutlangus's rallied after a 4-1 defeat in Game 1 on Friday to take the 3 game series with wins on Saturday and Sunday.
In Game 1, senior RHP Levi Mauldin earned the win allowing only one unearned run on three hits in 5 innings of work. Chase Shelton added two hits and two RBI. Game 2 on Saturday was a back-and-forth 11 inning contest. Junior catcher Andrew Widell delivered a go ahead sacrifice fly in the top of the 11th for Team Coutlangus, and freshman RHP Blake Roland pitched a scoreless final inning to earn the 3-2 victory. In Game 3, both teams were tied heading into the 7th inning. In the top of the 7th, Team Coutlangus added three runs with junior outfielder Bobby Ison and senior infielder Alex Tomasovich both delivering RBI hits. Ison was 3 for 3 on the day with 2 doubles and two runs scored to help Team Coutlangus clinch the series victory.
Quotes from the Blue and Gold Head Coaches
Jon Coutlangus
I am extremely proud of the resilience that Team Coot showed in our three games. After falling in game one, we didn't quit and stayed the course. This turned out to be the deciding factor in our next two wins. Both teams battled all weekend, and every game was as exciting as anticipated. I hope all the families enjoyed watching as much as I enjoyed coaching.
Drew Woodall
I was pleased with the way my guys came together in the first game. Two big swings by Chase Shelton and Zach Haralambis put us in the lead and some dominant pitching by Levi Mauldin, Nick Contafio, and Joe Pistacchio gave us the win. In the second and third games, we had plenty of chances to score runs. We just missed opportunities and couldn't get the big hits that we needed. Overall, I thought we played three really competitive games but just fell short in the end. Team Coot was a very talented team and earned each game they won.

First, I would like to thank all the families and friends who came out to CSU Ballpark over the weekend. We are blessed to have some fantastic people who care about our baseball players and the program. I enjoyed watching our guys compete over three days, and I would also like to thank my assistant coaches and staff for working so hard to make this weekend a success.
