Caitlin Cody had 13 saves for the Lady Bucs (3-5-1, 1-1 BSC) on the afternoon, but 14 different Winthrop (5-4, 2-0 BSC) players recorded shots in the match and four different Eagles scored as CSU fell in conference play for the first time in the 2012 season.

Winthrop challenged early, recording the first shot in the contest at the 2:12 mark, but Cody proved up to the challenge, recording the save. Allison Lewis put the Lady Bucs in the shot column with a header a minute later that sailed wide left as the teams traded shots over the first 30 minutes of the contest.

The Eagles got on the board at the 33:30 mark as Taylor Walton beat a CSU defender to the end line, dropping a pass back to Imani Ervins who beat Cody high into the net for the first goal of the game.

Winthrop peppered the net the remainder of the half, but Cody made three saves to keep the Eagles at bay. Emma Faubert fired the last salvo of the half for either team, but her shot at the 43:22 mark was collected by Amelia Henderson as the teams went into the break with Winthrop leading, 1-0.

In the second half, Lewis, Chelsea Phillips, Faubert and Rebecca Hollstegge all fired shots toward the net for Charleston Southern in the first 18 minutes of the period, but Winthrop was able to add to their lead at the 63:56 mark as Walton recorded her second assist in the game, playing a low cross into the box that Ariel Kunde dropped in the net to give the Eagles the 2-0 lead.

Winthrop added two more goals in the half as Krystyna Freda scored at the 75:23 mark off the assist from Grace Radler, while Devin Puckett put the final point on the board at the 85:14 mark off the assist from Allie Vandewater to close out the game.
