Boyce is just the third player to win back-to-back Player of the Year awards, joining Nikki Porter of Radford (2002, 2003) and Ashleigh Gunning of Coastal Carolina (2007, 2008). Boyce received seven first-place votes and 14 points, ahead of Coastal Carolina's Anna Tupy, who was second with five points.

Smith, in his first season as Winthrop's head coach, directed a remarkable turnaround in 2010, as the Eagles captured their second regular-season title and the No. 1 seed in the Conference Tournament. After posting 0-7-1 in non-League play, Smith and the Eagles turned things around in Conference action and finished with a 6-2-1 record. Smith is just the fourth first year head coach in Big South history to win Coach of the Year Honors and the first since 2000. He is the second coach of the year in Winthrop history. Smith tallied four first-place votes and 10 points in the voting, finishing ahead of Charleston Southern head coach Eric Terrill by one point (four first-place votes and nine points).

The freshman earned recognition all season for her play as she was named to the Best Western Huntington Mall All-Tournament Team, and claimed two Big South Defensive Player of the Week awards (Sept. 8 and Oct. 27). She is just the second player in Big South history to earn both Freshman of the Year honors and a player of the year recognition since Hilla Rantala of South Alabama in 1997. Brown received three first place votes and nine points in the Defensive Player of the Year voting, finishing ahead of Charleston Southern's Caitlin Wesnesky, and received five first-place votes and 11 points for Freshman of the Year over CSU's Toni Lashley.
