CHARLESTON, S.C. - The CSU Buccaneers defeated the Blue Hose of Presbyterian College this afternoon at a score of 5-0. The win extends CSU's unbeaten streak to eight matches. It also improves the Buc's record to 11-4-1 (5-0-1 BSC) and drops the Blue Hose to 5-9-1 overall and 2-2-0 in the Big South.

It was a dominant performance from the Bucs this afternoon. It was the Buc's second shut out of the season. They did not allow the Blue Hose a single shot on goal in fact. It was the first time since last season's 14-0 dismantling of Alabama State that the Bucs had held a team with out a shot on goal. The Bucs outshot the Blue Hose 35-4, with 18 of those being on goal.

CSU got out to another quick start in today's match by scoring in the 4th minute. Buccaneer senior Michelle Dennis settled a bouncing ball just inside the eighteen and sent a high shot past the keeper's outstretched arms. It was her fourth goal of the season and gave the Bucs the early 1-0 lead.

The Buc's missed on several chances to stretch their lead throughout the remainder of the first half and went into halftime with 1-0 advantage.

In the 54th minute the Bucs would add to their lead. Senior Marky Boyce tracked down a nice ball sent into space towards the corner by Emma Krantz. Boyce sent a low cross to the far post. Freshman Toni Lashley timed her run perfectly to stay just onside. Lashley put it away for her fifth goal of the season and the 2-0 lead.

The Buc's third goal on the day came from a similar situation as the second. Boyce sent a low cross to Lashley making a run in front of goal. Lashley then one touched it to an unmarked Michelle Dennis who cracked it towards goal for her second on the day. Both Boyce and Lashley were credited with an assist.

Caitlin Wesnesky scored the Buc's fourth goal on the day. Wesnesky scored on a beautiful shot off a free kick that was around 30 yards from goal. It was the second time that Wesnesky had scored from a set piece this season, her first coming against VMI a week ago Sunday. It was Wesnesky's fifth goal of the season and stretched the Buc's lead to four goals.

The Bucs would tack on their fifth and final goal of the day. Allison Lewis sent a pass for Rebecca Hollstegge who had gotten behind the Blue Hose defense. Hollstegge hit a hard shot right at the keeper who could only parry it into the air. A Blue Hose defender ran into goal to try to clear it off the line to no avail. It was Hollstegge's second goal of the season.

The Buc's remain atop the Big South with a 5-0-1 conference record.

The Buc's final home game of the season will be held this Friday at 7:00 at Blackbaud Stadium. The Buc's will face the Chanticleers of Coastal Carolina in an important Big South contest.
