COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Postgame quotes from CSU
Head Coach Barclay Radebaugh after his team's 89-51 loss to
Maryland:
On his overall impression of his team's effort:
"I thought the first half that we played very hard and played
well. I thought we competed very well offensively and defensively.
Then the game got away from us a little bit in the second half.
Their experience came into play, and we had a couple of costly
turnovers that allowed the game to get away from us a little
bit."
On the errors his team made that allowed Maryland to build
their lead:
"I thought we made some mistakes against their press that were
uncharacteristic of us. Those things are easily correctable and we
will take care of that. We haven't had a problem with turnovers,
and we'll do a much better job of holding on to the ball in the
games to come."
On the composure his team showed in one of college
basketball's toughest gyms:
"We had six guys playing in their first college basketball games,
and to ask them to do that in front of 16,000 people, in a very
hostile environment, was quite a test. Overall, I thought we
handled the pressure of the crowd well, and I didn't think that was
much of a factor."
On the play of Jamarco Warren:
"I thought Jamarco handled himself very well. He handled their
press very well and ran our team. I'm very encouraged by the way he
played."
On the play of Kelvin Martin:
"Kelvin will play much better as the season progresses. He was very
aggressive and he will play much better. I liked his energy and
competitiveness."
On the play of Kenny Mitchell:
"Kenny is going to be a really good player for us. This being the
very first college game he ever played in, against Maryland's front
line, I thought he played very well."
On the outlook of his team going into Tuesday's game with
The Citadel:
"We're going to take this game and break it down tonight and learn
from it tomorrow. We'll be well-prepared to play a very good
Citadel team. They're coming off of a great year, and they have a
tremendous team coming back."
