Lady Bucs drop second game in the Northeast

Staten Island, N.Y.- The CSU Lady Buccaneers struggled again in their second game in the Big Apple and fell to 3-3-0 on the season, while the Lady Seahawks of Wagner College out of the Northeastern Conference improved their record to 2-2-1.


CSU came out early with the first shot attempt of the game by Jen Vroman, but the Lady Seahawks were the first to record a goal on the scoreboard less than eight minutes into the game. A corner kick by Vroman at the 15:25 mark resulted in a CSU goal from 20 yards out, Vroman's first of the season. Wagner would end the first period with their second goal from twenty yards out in the right corner.


The Lady Bucs would again come out strong in the beginning of the second period with the first shot attempt by Emma Mattsson and a fast second attempt from Briana Murphy. Wagner's Briana Vassallo would respond with a 10 yard goal less than two minutes later, and after one failed shot attempt saved by CSU goalie Amy Arroyo.

The Lady Bucs weren't out of the game though. Sophomore Marky Boyce would score the second CSU goal of the game, her first of the season, at the 62:04 mark, assisted by Jen Vroman, from five yards out.

CSU goalie, Amy Arroyo, would show her presence with three consecutive saves against Wagner goal shots in less than to minutes of play. Wagner would score one more goal in the 68th minute, ending the game at a score of 4-2.


The Lady Bucs will be back at home to play Gardner-Webb on September 20 at 11 a.m.
