CHARLESTON, S.C. - An early goal by CSU paved the way for the Lady Bucs (3-1) to roll past USC-Aiken (2-4-2) by a score of 3-1 Monday evening at the CSU Soccer Field.

CSU Spread out the scoring, but continued to be dominant in the air, scoring twice on headers, the fourth time they have done so in the last two games.

Lindsey Trexler started the scoring in the 19th minute, finding a hole in the middle of the penalty area and burying a header in the back of the net, giving Trexler her third goal of the season and giving CSU an early 1-0 lead, a score that would hold up until just after halftime.

USC-A tied the game in the 49th minute with Lauren Myers taking the feed from Natasha DaCosta and pushing it past CSU keeper Jena Uvalle. The Lady Bucs wasted no time getting the lead back as four minutes later Christine Bethke took a corner kick, putting a high looping ball into the middle of the box where it found the head of Sarah Catenacci, who redirected it into the top left-hand corner of the goal.

CSU would add to their lead when Briana Murphy got the ball from Catenacci at the top of the 18-yard box, and blasted a shot off the keepers hands into the lower right corner, giving CSU the 3-1 lead that would hold for the rest of the game.

The Lady Bucs will head to Franis Marion to take on the Patriots on Wednesday at 4 p.m.
