Late PK Leads Birmingham-Southern Past CSU

Box score

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Sophomore defender Jessica Kim gave CSU an early 1-0 lead, scoring her first goal of the season, and second of her career, but it wouldn't be enough as Birmingham-Southern scored on a penalty kick with less than three minutes to go in the game, giving the Panthers a 2-1 lead.

The Bucs got on the board in the 17th minute when Kim took the pass from freshman Sarah Catenacci and put it into the back of the net.

Birmingham-Southern would tie the game just before halftime, when Jess Smith got the ball from Lydia Rice in the middle of the box and put it past a diving Jena Uvalle. Despite giving up two goals, Uvalle recorded a season-high 11 saves as the Panthers out shot CSU 26-8 in the game.

The Lady Bucs will stay on the road to take on Jacksonville State on Monday at 4 p.m.
