FRIPP ISLAND, S.C. – The Charleston Southern women's golf team saw its Big South Championship run come to a close in match play, falling to top-seeded High Point, 4-1, in the semifinal round. The match was played at Ocean Creek Golf Course at Fripp Island Resort, a par-72 layout.
High Point secured the victory with wins in the first, second, and fourth match. In Match 1, Eva Lye defeated Summer Griffiths, 4&3, to give High Point the early advantage. Anaïs Arafi extended the lead with a 3&2 victory over Chayse Cool in Match 2, before Anna Howerton clinched the semifinal for High Point with a 3&2 win over Iy Ibnu in Match 4.
Two matches remained on the course at the time of the decision. Katie Stephens was leading Ella Perna 1UP through 17 holes in Match 3, while Eugenie Varet was narrowly trailing Makayla Grubb by one hole through 15 in Match 5 when play was halted, resulting in one point for CSU and one point for HPU.
Charleston Southern advanced to match play after earning the No. 4 seed out of stroke play, finishing the season with a strong showing at the conference championship.
