Bucs Prepare for Presbyterian and Radford as Big South Play Continues

CHARLESTON – With only three weeks left of Big South regular season play, CSU prepares for two opponents: a home game vs Presbyterian on February 12th and a contest on the road at Radford on Valentine's Day, February 14th.

A brief preview of all three opponents can be found below:

Game #26

Opponent: vs Presbyterian

Date: February 12th

Time: 7:00 PM

TV: ESPN+

  • On January 21st, CSU played the Blue Hose in Clinton, South Carolina and fell 87-83. In the contest, graduate student Trent Coleman saw his first action since December 21st – recording 7 points and 6 rebounds in only 12 minutes of playing time. The Buccaneer backcourt duo of A'lahn Sumler and Brycen Blaine combined for 42 of CSU's 83 points.

  • PC's premier player this season is big man, Jonah Pierce. Pierce has performed at a First-Team All-Conference level this year and is averaging 16.5 points and 9.8 boards ahead of Thursday's matchup. He ranks fifth in scoring in Big South play, and first in rebounding.

  • In addition to Pierce, Presbyterian is home to three other double-figure scorers: Carl Parrish (14.0), Triston Wilson (10.4), and Jaylen Peterson (10.2).

  • The head coach of the Blue Hose is Quinton Ferrell. Ferrell has been coaching in the PC program for 12 years and is in his seventh season as head coach. In 2023–24 and 2024–25, his teams combined for 28 wins, the best two-year stretch of his career. With 12 wins already this season, 2025–26 is on track to be Ferrell's best year to date. Like CSU head coach Saah Nimley, Ferrell began his time in Clinton as a player. A three-year starting point guard for PC, Ferrell is regarded as one of the best defenders in program history under former head coach Gregg Nibert.

  • Charleston Southern leads the all-time series between the two programs, 23-16.

Game #27

Opponent: at Radford

Date: February 14th

Time: 2:30 PM

TV: ESPN+

  • The Highlanders and Bucs met in Charleston on January 29th – Radford winning 84-75. CSU's A'lahn Sumler had one of his signature scoring nights, putting 28 on the visiting institution.

  • On the Radford side, star guard Del Jones posted 27 points in the January 29th contest. Jones ranks fourth in the Big South in league play scoring with 20.7 per night.

  • Joining Jones in the double-figure scoring average column is forward Dennis Parker Jr. Parker Jr. was an early favorite for the league's Newcomer of the Year award, highlighted by his 53-point performance against Coppin State on December 14th. He has scored 20+ in five conference games so far, and his 18.8 points per conference game are good enough to have him ranked seventh in the Big South.

  • Radford's representative at Big South Media Day was senior guard Jaylon Johnson. Johnson averages 13.3 points per game in league play and leads the Highlanders in both assists (3.3) and steals (1.7) per game.

  • Radford leads the all-time series between the two programs, 57–30.
