CHARLESTON – The Women's Golf team completed their second tournament of the spring earlier this week with a tie for 11
th at the Daniel Island Invitational. The event was held at the Daniel Island Club in Daniel Island, S.C. with the College of Charleston serving as the host institution.
The Bucs were able to put together a tremendous opening day in the first two rounds as they were up against five different nationally ranked programs. After the first day, they were +15 as a squad with scores of +8 and +7. They were tied for 6
th with Georgetown and #47 Campbell and ahead of #46 Virginia Tech.
At the end of the week, they ended in a tie for 11
th with Georgia State at +32 with their team score of +17 in the third, concluding the action in the week.
Eugenie Varet was the top finisher for the Buccaneers at the tournament, claiming a tie for 15
th at it. She finished with rounds of 72, 74, 72, to finish at two-over.
Katie Stephens had scores of 73 and 70 over the first two rounds with a 77 to conclude it. She took a tie for 30
th and was +4 for the event.
Rounding out the lineup for the Bucs were
Isabella Galla (51, +14),
Odette Font Garcia (T56, +17) and
Paige Zolciak (T68, +23). Garcia had her best round come in the first as she fired a 73 in it.
The Bucs return to the course again this upcoming week with a tournament outside of the Charleston-metro area as they will participate in the UNCW River Landing Classic. It will be held by Monday, March 3 through Tuesday, March 4 in Wallace, North Carolina.
