Charleston Southern Softball Welcomes North Carolina Standout – Ashelyn Tucker
CHARLESTON, S.C. – Head Coach Christi Musser and the Charleston Southern Softball program are proud to announce the signing of Ashelyn Tucker, a talented and well-rounded student-athlete from Oakboro, North Carolina, as part of the Buccaneers' 2026 recruiting class.
Tucker comes to CSU from South Stanly High School, where she has been a four-year varsity starter and a proven leader on and off the field. A versatile athlete who excels at third base and utility positions, she competes at the club level with TN Mojo, one of the nation's top travel programs.
Throughout her high school career, Tucker has compiled an impressive list of accolades, including being named a 2023 and 2025 NFCA All-America Scholar Athlete, 2024 All-District selection, and recipient of the 2024 Coaches Award. She also helped lead her travel team to a championship title at the 2025 16U Triple Crown East Coast Summer Nationals.
Head Coach Christi Musser on Ashelyn:
"There are so many things to love about Ashelyn and what she will bring to the Buc Family. She is extremely versatile and dynamic with the ability to play just about every defensive position on the field. She is a smart player that plays the game hard and with passion. Her work ethic and character make her a perfect fit for our program and I have no doubt that she will be an impact player for our squad!"
Equally accomplished in the classroom, Ashelyn carries a 4.542 GPA, ranks in the top 10 of her class, and is a member of both the National Honor Society (Historian) and National Technical Honor Society (President).
Beyond academics and softball, Tucker is deeply engaged in her school community as a Fellowship of Christian Athletes leader and Senior Class President on the Student Council. A multi-sport athlete, she has also competed in varsity volleyball for four years and varsity basketball for two.
When asked why she chose Charleston Southern, Tucker shared,
"I chose Charleston Southern because it felt like a place I could grow as a person, athlete, and Christian. I love everything about CSU and its beautiful location."
Softball runs in the Tucker family — Ashelyn's older sister, Kaitlyn Tucker, played collegiately at Presbyterian College, continuing a strong family tradition of success in the sport.
At Charleston Southern, Ashelyn plans to major in Marketing as she begins her academic and athletic journey with the Buccaneers.
