Keshunti Nichols goes for a new season high of 17 points on Wednesday night, as the Charleston Southern women's basketball team gets back to .500 in conference play with a 63-54 win over the Winthrop Eagles on the road.
A strong second quarter in which the Bucs (6-13, 3-3 in conference) finished the half on an 8-0 run was enough and to take a 28-22 lead at intermission.
Kennedi Jackson had 10 points in the first half and was 5/5 from the field.Â
After Winthrop (9-11, 3-4 in conference) started the half on a 6-0 run, Charleston Southern regained the lead with back-to-back layups from Nichols. The Bucs got hot, ending the quarter on a 10-4 run.Â
In the fourth quarter, Charleston Southern extended their lead into double digits with five-straight points from Nichols to make it 51-40 with 5:49 left in regulation; however, Winthrop did not go down without a fight, cutting the deficit to 55-52 with 1:13 left in regulation, but the Bucs were 6/6 from the free throw line down the stretch to fight off the Eagles.

Madison Adamson was the leading rebounder with seven on the night, and
Shimei Muhammad had four steals. The Bucs outrebounded the Eagles 39-32 and shot 45.3% from the field.
