North Charleston, S.C. –
Kennedi Jackson's 23 points and 10 rebounds were not enough on Saturday, as the Charleston Southern women's basketball team dropped a home-conference game to the High Point Panthers by a 74-57 score.
After the Bucs (5-13, 2-3 in conference) jumped out to a 9-3 lead in the first quarter, they were held scoreless for over five minutes, which allowed the Panthers (9-9, 4-1 in conference) to go on a 15-0 run to end the first quarter.
High Point was able to take a double-digit lead in the second quarter until
Alba Garcia knocked down a couple of three pointers to cut the Buccaneer deficit to six with 1:50 left in the first half; however, the Panthers responded with five-straight points to take a 35-24 lead into halftime.
The Panther lead reached 19 points when a pair of free throws made it 49-30 with 5:04 left in the third quarter. Charleston Southern tried to make a comeback, but they could never trim the deficit into single digits, as the Panthers pushed their lead back up to 22 with 2:33 left in the fourth quarter.
While Jackson did most of the scoring for the Bucs,
Catherine Alben had 12 points, and
Madison Adamson had eight rebounds; all in the first quarter. Charleston Southern turned the ball over a 14 times while forcing 15. The Bucs had eight steals with
