Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Chavez's 31 Not Enough for Bucs on the Road

HIGH POINT, N.C. – Charleston Southern men's basketball fell on the road Saturday night, losing 81-71 to High Point, marking the split of the season series between the two sides.

CHAVEZ SHINES
Tahlik Chavez had himself a night Saturday, finishing with a game-high 31 points on 10-17 shooting from the field, seven of which coming from three. This marks the second time this season that Chavez has reached 30+ points in a game as he recorded a career-high of 33 on 10 threes made.

TALE OF TWO HALVES
Charleston Southern had a strong showing in the first half, taking a 40-39 advantage into the midway break behind a strong 19-point first-half performance from Chavez. The second half saw the Panthers flip the script and outscore the Bucs 42-33, shooting 45% from the field while holding CSU to just 32%.

SHARIN' THE ROCK
Charleston Southern turned in an impressive effort with sharing the basketball, something they have done well with all season. The Bucs recorded 12 assists on 25 made field goals from the field, falling just short of marking another contest that they record assists on at least half of their made shots. Three different Bucs recorded multiple dimes, paced by Claudell Harris Jr.'s five.

DOUBLE FIGURES
Charleston Southern saw three Bucs finish the contest with double figures, led by Chavez's 31. Harris Jr. had a strong night as well for CSU, as he finished the night with 18 points to add to his five assists and three boards. Tyeree Bryan rounded out the list with 10 points, but he made his presence known on both sides of the floor after adding nine boards.

UP NEXT
The Bucs will hit the road for its next affair as they make a return trip to USC Upstate Wednesday, February 8. The action is set for a 7:00 p.m. start in Spartanburg.
